Jane Campion: A Biography

Jane Campion is a New Zealand and Australian film director and screenwriter.

She was born in Wellington in 1954. Campion grew up in an acting family, with her mother being an actress and her father a director.

However, she rarely had the opportunity to accompany her parents to the theater. In interviews, Campion prefers to discuss art and cinema in general rather than her own family. She has two sisters, one of whom is dedicated to her full-length films.

As a child, Campion was not particularly interested in cinema.

She had a love for black and white films, and it was during her studies at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School that she began working on her own films. Before that, she studied anthropology and later art in Venice.
